In wisdom circles we create ‘soul friends’, that is, one who looks into the heart of the other, sees their inner light and wants to support the radiance that is trying to grow there.

Wisdom Circles

Sage-ing wisdom circles are small community gatherings of like-minded older persons that can happen in a community centre a meeting room, or your own home.

Wisdom circles are not a therapy group nor a religious or political gathering.

A wisdom circle is the opportunity to explore and share what is deeply meaningful in regard to the aging journey. The dialogue focuses on topics related to aging and the changing role of elders in our society and looking at the challenges and joys of aging.

As a member of the Community Education team at Sage-ing International®, it is my goal to bring more wisdom circles to Vancouver Island so that these deep connections and conversations can happen with ease and accessibility for anyone who wishes to participate.

In appreciating our elder years as an essential part of the human experience, we become better role models for the generations behind us. Through discussion of topics such as self love, developing wisdom, forgiveness, facing mortality and more, we become supported leaders with a unique vision for the world that comes with having lived a long life.

There is so much wisdom already within you

Wisdom Circles are a welcoming and respectful place to explore our feelings about growing older and a place to learn some tools necessary to become the wise sages we hope to be. It’s a little bit like a well run book club in many ways.

A strong bond often forms between participants. Many sage-ing wisdom circles have been meeting regularly in North America, from five to 25 years.

What people say about wisdom circles:

“Hearing people’s experiences of wisdom and conscious ageing – is special and sacred.”

“I appreciate talking about topics that we don’t talk about with family and friends”

“I value connecting and learning from each other”

“I value the opportunity to go deep, to learn about myself.”
